Occupation cut-offs
Minimum points invited per occupation for the subclass 189. Occupations missing from this list received no invitations.
Round history
Since 2025–26 the Department runs a few large rounds a year instead of monthly draws.
Subclass 189 invitations per round
Newest first. The dashed bar is the round expected by 30 September 2026.
Round log
Some trackers report 10,000 invitations for 13 November 2025. The Department's own total for that round isn't confirmed here, so it shows as not published.
How a round picks EOIs
Within each occupation, the highest scores are invited first until the round quota or occupation ceiling is reached.
At the cut-off score, the EOI with the earlier date of effect is invited first.
An invitation gives you 60 days to apply. An EOI stays active for two years.
2026–27 planning levels
Announced in the May 2026 Budget. The total held at 185,000 while places shifted between visa types.
Skill stream places, year on year
Regional provisional places were cut hardest. 189, 190 and employer-sponsored places grew.
What this means for your EOI
A 25% larger allocation should mean more invitations across 2026–27 and some easing of cut-offs.
With 491 places down by more than half, regional applicants are likely to redirect to state nomination.
Trade qualifications gain degree-level points. The broader rewrite isn't expected before mid-2027.
State nomination
Runs separately from SkillSelect rounds. Nationally, 190 places rose to 35,500. Statuses last verified late August to mid September 2026 and can change without notice.
